Records consist of the files, 1963, of John P. Humphrey, Principal Secretary of the United Nations Fact-Finding Mission to South Vietnam and contain the mission's itineraries; draft of a report on the establishment of the mission; memoranda concerning members, travel arrangements, finances, and other logistical matters; minutes of meetings of the mission; letters of protest from Buddhist groups; minutes of meetings with officials of the government of South Vietnam; interviews with Buddhists, witnesses of incidents, imprisoned monks, and others; cables; statements to the press; lists of petitions submitted to the mission in protest of government persecution of Buddhist monks; press clippings; pictures submitted to the mission; draft of the final report; and Vietnamese laws and regulations collected at Headquarters, ca. 1957-1963. One half of these records consists of various books and pamphlets about Vietnam.
